Everyday Enchantments

From the moment I wake up until I go to sleep, I play with incorporating magic in as many activities as I can— Whether it is eating, washing, walking, working or anything else! Maybe I am odd that way, and would be more “productive” if I chose another way to do life, however incorporating magic is so much fun, and gives my life crazy meaning and joy.

The definition of magic is vast, ranging from supernatural powers to sleight of hand to magic rites, and while I may love all those definitions, my favorite definition of magic is enchantment. Enchantment = Great delight, pleasure, beauty, wonder and fascination—Oh yes! More of that please.

I know, I know, you have a ton of things to get done, to do, to accomplish… And you can still do all those things, but you can do them with fun and flair! You can give meaning and extra power to everyday activities.

If you click on the button below you can download and print a worksheet to fill out about ways to incorporate everyday magic into your life. For inspiration here are some of the simple ways I create more magic into my daily life:

EATING

Putting intention into everything I eat and drink. Praying over meals. Connecting to the energies of the food. Eating slowly and enjoying the tastes, smells and sensations. Carving meaningful shapes and symbols into my food and baked goods.

NIGHTIME

I ask myself these questions every bedtime:

*Three things I am Grateful for

*Two Things I did Great Today

*What I learned today

*What I could have done better

CONNECTION
Talking to houseplants and listening for responses, starting everyday outside connecting to the elements (earth, air, fire and water), observing the stunning miracle that is constantly changing weather, and what I can learn about my moods from weather

EXTRA POWER
Naming my house and creating magical little altars around my house

WASHING

Imagining a color flowing through the water filling me with whatever energy I need and want.

For extra delight and since Valentine’s day was earlier this month, I thought it would be fun (and delicious) to share with you one of my favorite magic coffee recipes. This coffee invokes feelings of love and gratitude.

Magic Love Coffee

Depending upon how you are making your coffee and how strong you like it– The ratios of water and ground beans will vary, so use your knowledge and intuition.

Ground Coffee Beans 2 to 7 Tbsp

Water 2 to 5 Cups

Rose Petals ½ tsp ground

Cinnamin ¼ tsp

Cardamom ½ tsp

Vanilla

Sweetener of choice

Mix coffee and herbs and put in your melitta filter, French press or any other device you use to make coffee. As you prepare the coffee feel your heart expanding and draw a heart in the grounds with the herbs. Pour Boiling water over the magical love grounds. Add vanilla, sweetener of choice and any kind of plant based creamer that you like. As you drink think of all the things you love about yourself and your life.

Wishing for you a year full of enchantment!
